What is the Representative Pathway?
Students enrolled at ISA Member Schools are provided the opportunity to represent ISA in a range of sports and events that run throughout the calendar year.
The pathway for further representation then extends through to the NSWCIS, NSW All Schools and where applicable Schools Sport Australia via each respective sectors Championships and/or Trials.
ISA


Saturday Sporting Competitions
Member Schools participate in competitions across a Summer Season (Term 4 and Term 1 the following year) and Winter Season (Term 2 and Term 3) which includes a 10 round Home and Away structure with Semi Finals and Finals.

To be eligible to trial and then represent ISA in the above sports, students must be representing their school in that sport during the ISA Season in the same calendar year as the representative program.
Pathway Sports
These are sports where ISA do not provide a competition. Students can still follow these sporting pathways, through one of the following:
a) Sports Where an ISA Team is Selected
Students are nominated by their respective school to ISA to attend an ISA Trial, where a team will be selected to represent ISA at the sports respective NSWCIS Championships and Trials.
b) Sports that are direct nomination to nswcis
Students are nominated by their respective school to NSWCIS to attend a NSWCIS Trial, where a team will be selected to represent NSWCIS at the sports respective NSW All Schools Championships and Trials.

Carnivals
Member Schools participate in carnivals throughout the year – Athletics, Cross Country and Swimming.
To be eligible for selection to represent ISA in any of these events, students must compete at the respective ISA Carnival.
NSWCIS
The NSW Combined Independent Schools Sports Council, also known as CIS, aims to provide a pathway to state and national level competition in a wide variety of sports for students and staff in the independent sector.
Secondary School Sporting Associations that sit under the NSWCIS banner include: IGSSA, AAGPS, AICES, CSSA, ISA, NCIS, RAS and CAS.


NSW ALL SCHOOLS
NSW All Schools provides opportunities for secondary students from the Catholic, Government and Independent sectors to participate in representative sport at the national level.
SCHOOL SPORT AUSTRALIA
The focal point of School Sport Australia activities has been the interstate competitions offered at both primary and secondary levels. These are the culmination of state based programs and offer the gifted and talented students the opportunity to participate in higher levels of sporting competition. These events are an integral part of the School Sport Australia program, not only for their sporting benefits, but also for the immense educational, cultural and social benefits they provide for the participants.
